Product Executive in demand planning and procurement, based in Muscat, Oman. The job covers what a multi-brand automotive parts distributor buys and how much, and every order from the supplier quote through freight and customs to the warehouse shelf.

From enquiry to warehouse

Each order is followed from the first forecast to the goods on the shelf, and every decision along the way can be explained with numbers.

  1. Plan

    Demand planning and forecasting

Monthly forecasts come from sales history. Each part has its own safety stock and reorder point, reviewed every cycle, so fast movers stay in stock and slow movers stop tying up cash.

  2. Buy

    Procurement and supplier negotiation

Suppliers quote through RFQs and are compared on landed cost rather than the quoted price, then price, MOQs and lead times are negotiated. Every proforma invoice is checked item by item before it is signed.

  3. Ship

    Freight forwarding and customs

Each LCL or FCL shipment gets the right forwarder and agreed Incoterms, and HS codes and customs registrations stay accurate on Oman's Bayan system. The paperwork is ready before the goods land.

Freight forwarder selection, LCL and FCL, Incoterms, HS classification, customs clearance

  4. Receive

    Goods receipt and stock control

Goods are checked into the warehouse against the purchase order, and supplier invoices are reconciled with payments, so nothing is paid twice and the stock figures stay right.

What a supply chain team gets

  • Demand planning

Forecasts built from real sales history and reviewed every cycle, with safety stock and reorder points set for each part.

  • Procurement

Supplier sourcing, RFQs and negotiation on price, MOQs and lead times, with suppliers judged on landed cost and tracked on scorecards.

  • Freight and customs

LCL and FCL freight booked and followed through to clearance, with HS classification and customs registrations kept accurate.

  • Inventory and reporting

Stock cover, working capital and gross profit analysis, turned into reports for the General Manager and CEO.

  • Automation

Forecasting and reporting tools built in Excel, Python and Power BI, including a monthly inventory close that now runs in a day instead of several.

Problems solved

Details are kept general out of respect for my employer. Happy to talk through any of these in person.

Finding the cash that was sitting still

An inventory and working-capital review that showed leadership where money was tied up and which items needed clearing.

Stopping a payment going out twice

A running record of invoices against payments caught a duplicate before the money left the account.

Recovering what suppliers owed us

Credits and supplier marketing funds that had never been claimed, traced back and recovered.

Supplier claims, credit notes, marketing fund recovery

Reading a sales dip correctly

The core business was separated from a group of items hit by new import duties, so leadership made its decision on the right reading of the numbers.

Keeping customs registrations clean

The company's customs product registrations were reconciled, and new checks now flag problems with declared values before a shipment is lodged.
